sunrise over swamps

sunset over melancholy seas

shared solitude: sunset beach

on August 9, 2011

Finepoint sharpie on paper, July 2011.

The words on the drawing say:

Seated together on a lonely beach

Silent in shared solitude

No word need be exchanged

and in the space between them

… a deep sorrow expands the sense of distance

So that an arm’s span becomes

an unpassable chasm

There can be nothing beyond this point –

… no touch, no connection

No bridge between their sould

They must find solace in the brief moment

but partaking in shared solitude

This is one of the rare cases where I have been able to combine my creative writing with my line drawings and I am pleased with the result.

  1. Posky says:

It’s always nice when you come across something that speaks to you in a special moment and time.

I was pleased with the result too.

  2. This poem struck a chord in my heart and brought back a beautiful memory of “shared solitude” I have not thought about in years. Love the drawing too. You are very talented. Thanks for sharing!
