sunrise over swamps

sunset over melancholy seas

Poem 24 of 30

on April 25, 2013

He is like the sun:
The sunrise playing on fields of grass
as it lifts high above the horizon.
He’s scattering the darkness, awaking my heart.

He is like the silence that settles
in the heat of the day,
when all creatures pause from their work.
Their heads rest upon the earth.

He is like the peace that softly,
gently springs up and overflows
so that each moment is
so alive.

He is like the centre of the world
and it seems that every thought
must find its end point in him
and my end is in him.

He is too close to hide, too far to touch –
And he will never know that to me
he is the sun, the silence, the peace
and the centre.
