sunrise over swamps

sunset over melancholy seas

Poem 20 of 30

The winter air has arrived before its time,

travelling north from icy Antarctic wastelands.

The wind is cold and seeps into the marrow

until the heartbeat slows and the mind turns inward,

falling into itself in a prison made of frozen bone pillars.

There is nothing left but

to watch the blue skies peer between the storm clouds.

[In case it’s not immediately obvious, this was written at the culmination of a very chilly autumn day in the southern part of mainland Australia. It can get very cold here!]

Passing Seasons

Photos in this series are, usually, taken on an iPhone3GS using the Camera+ Lightbox app. They are all taken in the same few spots on a regular basis. My aim was to capture some of the alterations in the view throughout the year.

Date is given in the standard Australian format (day / month / year) and time is in 24 hour clock format.

6 March 2012 – A lot happened in the sky in just this one evening!

5 March 2012 – I think this series of images taken throughout the one day well-illustrate the ridiculous variability of Melbourne’s weather patterns!
